A couple of years ago, we decided to throw a last minute impromptu New Year’s Eve party. I had been wanting to try to do a charcuterie board, and since it involved almost no cooking, prep, or dishes, it was a win-win! I was a little intimidated at first, I really know nothing about meats and cheeses, and forget which wine to pair with it! After a quick browse through Pinterest, and a walk through the grocery store, I knew I could handle it! Minus the wine! Guests could bring that! You can do it too, just follow my easy steps to throw a no fuss charcuterie party!

1) Gather the Supplies:
Roll of brown craft or mailing paper-This makes a great table runner, protects your table or counter, and it’s fun and handy to write on. Craft paper can be found anywhere from the dollar store to the grocery store. It’s usually in the office supply section. I labeled the meats and cheeses that were spicy so that people would know before eating it. You can label everything if you want, or write things like Happy Birthday, or Happy New Year.

Charcuterie or cheese boards-although these are not necessary, I love to not only use them to serve, but to use them in my kitchen home decor when I’m not serving. Boards are all the rage right now and you can find them just about everywhere. Home Goods typically has a plethora of them at great prices, but if you don’t have one close, here are some great ones from Amazon.
2) Gather Inspiration

Pinterest is a great source for inspiration and helpful tips. You can view my Charcuterie Board Pins here. There are checklists as to how many meats, cheeses, nuts to have, what types of cheeses to purchase, even diagrams on how to style a board. Throwing a no fuss charcuterie party couldn’t be easier!

3) Go Shopping!
Although I was a little intimated at first, it was really fun walking through the grocery store and shopping for this party! Most stores have meat and cheese trays already packaged and ready to go, and you can just add some fruit, dried fruit, nuts, spreads or jams, and breads and crackers. I like to add a few varieties of olives as well.
4) Lay It Out!

Start by placing any serving boards or dishes that you want to use. Remember to have a small container for each spread, although I think it’s fine to serve straight from the jars as well.
Once all of the large pieces are placed, begin placing the food. Anything greasy or messy I try to put on a platter or board, but the nuts, fruits, breads, crackers can just be placed directly on the paper. Stack and layer together with little or no negative space. You want this to look like a plentiful bounty! Remember to label anything that may be spicy, or everything if you’d like!
That’s all there is to throwing a no fuss charcuterie party! It’s so quick and easy! Guests can munch all night. No cooking has to be involved, unless you want to make this delicious baked brie recipe, or toast some bread with olive oil. This is my most favorite party to throw!
I wish you all a happy, safe, and blessed New Year!
