I love the coastal, airy feel of the Serena & Lily catalog! It always gives me so much inspiration! When I was thumbing through their spring catalog, I ripped this page out, knowing that I could re-create this look on my outdoor picnic table with what I already have! And I bet you can too! Read on to see how you can Set a Simple Outdoor Tablescape in about 10 minutes with what you already might have!

1) Table runner or greenery
My first step is always to add a table runner or greenery. I love to use natural greenery, whenever possible! However, I live in the desert and don’t have access to a lot of foraging, so I just trimmed these branches off our tree. It needed trimming anyway! Faux is always a good option as well, because then you have it forever.

2) Placemats
Next, add placemats can often be overlooked, but they are a necessity to ground the dishes and create a beautiful tablescape! Placemats come in all shapes, sizes, textures, and colors. I prefer to use round ones as they take up less room.
3) Dishes
Neutral, good quality dishes are a must and will last the trends for years to come. Opt for white or neutral earthen stoneware.

4) Embellish
This is the fun part! Embellish the bowls or plates with placecards, succulents, napkins with pretty napkin rings, the sky is the limit to how creative you can be! In this case, I used palm leaves from a big pack I bought on Amazon, paired with neutral napkins.

5) Beverage glasses
Finally, don’t forget to add appropriate glasses for the beverage you are serving. Mason jars also make cute glasses in a casual or fun tablescape. Glasses don’t have to be fancy or expensive-I bought these wine glasses at the dollar store!

The key to creating any beautiful tablescape is having quality, neutral basics like dishes, placemats, napkins, and glasses. Once you have the key staple items that are needed, the creativity can flow creating any kind of look!

WOW! The leaf in the bowls really adds a lot to the look of this setting! It’s wonderful! I tried to sign up for your newsletter, but it led me to an error message. Are you able to add me to the list?
Thank you so much! There were leaves in the inspo picture, so I had to try it! I’m so sorry that you received an error! I will look into it!

It looks amazing Danielle! I envy how green everything is. Here in Alberta, the snow has barely melted and everything looks pretty much dead. I can’t wait for summer.
